Matt Sterne

Director / Self confessed cricket tragic

Matt Sterne is an Australian filmmaker, creative director, and lifelong storyteller with a passion for finding beauty in the overlooked. After a career spent crafting award-winning campaigns in the advertising world, Matt shifted his focus to something more personal - telling real stories that resonate.

Driven by curiosity and connection, his work explores themes of identity, community, sport, and the quiet strength of everyday people. Ghost Town Cricket marks his directorial debut - a self-funded film born from a single image that sparked a journey into the South Australian outback and into a story that had to be told.

Matt brings a unique blend of human connection, deep narrative storytelling and creative finesse into everything he makes. He is co-founder of The Cowboys, a Sydney-based creative agency, and is lead Director of Rodeo, its production arm dedicated to original, purposeful storytelling.
